Biography

Swiss mezzo-soprano Valérie Bonnard graduated from the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU), where she obtained a Master’s degree in Music Pedagogy and a Master’s degree in Solo Performance. She furthered her studies with Kathrin Graf, Christa Lehnert and Rachel Bersier.

As a soloist in oratorio and sacred music, she has performed major works by Bach, Handel, Mozart, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Rossini, Dvořák and Gounod under conductors including Michel Corboz, John Nelson, Pablo Heras-Casado, Heinz Holliger and Michael Hofstetter. She has appeared at numerous festivals in Switzerland and abroad and has collaborated with ensembles such as the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich and Sinfonia Varsovia.

She has participated in several recordings under the direction of Michel Corboz for the Mirare label.

She holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Lausanne in French and German literature and Art History. She also develops musical hiking projects combining music, cultural heritage and mountain landscapes.
